We believe that “Please” eloquently embodies a representation of the cultural movement hosted by the Occident nowadays. Identity being the center of most of our contemporary conflicts, we found in the message of the song a new discursive approach to take on new challenges (whether social, political, spiritual or existential). While conserving the most important themes such as altruism, sensuality or humanism, we added a story/a plot and a character to which the spectator could easily identify with.
For this project we started with an analysis and interpretation of the song before imagining how we would represent it visually. Our main goal was to keep the oneiric/dreamlike esthetic present in the sounds. But most of all we wanted to emphasize on the humanist message of the lyrics.
It is also the message of the song that influenced our will and motivation. Finishing this project was a way to prove our adherence to what the song actually means.
